meez alternatives: 6 options compared

meez is the strongest recipe product in this category, and its entry plan is $19 a month. The catch for anyone buying it to keep costs current is that invoice processing sits two tiers up at $179. Here is what the alternatives publish, and which of them include invoice capture on the plan you would actually start on.

Disclosure: Final Menu is one of the seven products compared here, and we make it. Every price below was read from each vendor's own pricing page on 15 October 2026, and each is linked to its source so you can check it. Where a product does something Final Menu does not, that is stated plainly.

meez pricing

meez publishes four tiers in US dollars, with roughly 20% off for annual billing. The column that matters for a costing buyer is the last one.[1]

Starter$24$19No
Pro$119$89No
Premium$199$179Yes

Invoice processing is a Premium feature, and meez marks it unavailable on Starter and Pro in its own comparison table. It also works differently from the optical scanning most of this category sells: meez describes it as scanning invoices to meez for its team to digitise them for you.[2] Accurate, and not instant.

Two more things the pricing page states that are easy to miss. Invoice processing, purchase feeds and back-office recipe sync each carry a one-time setup fee per location, and the amount is not published. The page also lists its additional cost feed add-on at two different prices in two places, so we have left that figure out rather than pick one.

Why operators look for an alternative

Two reasons come up, and they point at different products.

The first is where invoice capture sits. If you came to meez to stop retyping supplier prices, the plan that does that is $179 a month billed annually, not $19. That is a fair price for what Premium contains. It is a lot for the one feature you came for.

The second is shape. meez is built around the recipe: scaling, yields, method, photos, training. An operator who already has their recipes settled and wants to know what they cost this week is buying a recipe development system to get a costing feature, which is the same trade people make when they buy an accounting platform for the same reason.

Published pricing compared

Read the capture column before the price column. It is the one that decides most of these decisions, because reading invoices by hand is the work you are trying to stop doing.

Entry prices are the lowest published rate, which for meez and Restoke means annual billing. Read the billing unit before comparing: MarginEdge prices per location and Restoke per site, so a second venue doubles those figures, while meez, MarketMan and reciProfity publish no per-location qualifier on their base plans. Only meez and Restoke name a currency, so the bare dollar signs elsewhere are the vendors' own notation rather than our assertion of USD.

The options one by one

MarginEdge: $350/location/month

The most complete product here and priced like it. Invoice processing is unlimited on the only plan there is, and it adds bill pay, vendor statement reconciliation and a daily profit and loss figure that nothing else on this page produces.[3] If you want meez's costing half without its recipe half, and you have the budget, this is the serious version of that. One cost that is easy to miss: restaurants on Toast pay Toast a further $50 per location per month for the suite the connection requires.

MarketMan: from $249/month

Inventory and purchasing first, costing second. Its $249 Starter plan includes 50 AI invoice scans a month, and unlimited scanning starts at $299 on Growth.[4] A good fit if ordering and stock counts are the actual problem, oversized if they are not. Worth noting against meez: capture is on the entry plan here, metered rather than gated. Its own alternatives split along the inventory line rather than the recipe one.

reciProfity: from $49/month

The cheapest entry price in the table, and the one to look at if you need nutrition and allergen data. Its invoice handling is genuinely different: there is no scanning at all, and you enter invoices manually or import a spreadsheet.[5] What the $99 Operations tier adds is automatic ingredient price updates from invoices you have already entered. Cheaper than meez Premium, and more typing.

Restoke: from AU$111/site/month

An Australian back-of-house platform covering costing, ordering, prep lists and team management. Unlimited AI invoice processing sits on the entry Essentials tier rather than above it,[6] which makes it the closest match here for the job meez gates at Premium. Prices are in Australian dollars excluding GST and are quoted per site. Its supplier integrations and support hours are built around Australian and New Zealand operators, which is the main thing to weigh if you are somewhere else.

Restaurant365: custom quote

Modular accounting, inventory, workforce and payroll for larger groups. It publishes no prices at all, so you go through sales.[7] Realistically an enterprise decision rather than an alternative to a $19 recipe tool.

Final Menu: free tier, $99/month

Ours, so weigh it with the bias in mind. It does one thing: reads your invoices, keeps ingredient prices current, and recalculates recipe costs and suggested menu prices as those prices move. Invoice processing is included at $99 rather than gated above it, and there is a free tier for up to 10 recipes.

What it does not do, and meez does: recipe development, scaling and yields, method steps, photos, and kitchen training. If those are why you are on meez, nothing here replaces it, and the honest answer is to keep meez and decide separately whether the costing half is worth $179.

How to choose

Start from which half of meez you use. If it is the recipe half, you are not shopping for an alternative, you are deciding whether to pay Premium for costing on top. If it is the costing half, the question is only where capture sits and what you are willing to pay per location for it.

Two more things that are easy to get wrong when comparing. Setup fees are real and mostly unpublished, so ask every vendor for the one-time number before you compare monthlies. And if you run more than one site, convert every price to a per-site figure first, because a flat plan and a per-location plan rank completely differently at two venues than at one.

Whatever you choose, the arithmetic underneath is the same. Food cost percentage, the four menu pricing methods and prime cost work the same way whoever is doing the sums. If you are also weighing the full back-office products, the MarginEdge comparison covers that end of the market.

Frequently asked questions

How much does meez cost?

meez publishes four tiers in US dollars: Starter at $24 a month, or $19 billed annually. Pro at $119, or $89 annually. Premium at $199, or $179 annually. Enterprise is a custom quote. Prices as published on 15 October 2026. The base plans carry no per-location qualifier, which is unusual in this category.

Does meez include invoice scanning?

Only on Premium and Enterprise. meez describes it as scanning invoices to meez for its team to digitise, and its own comparison table marks the feature unavailable on Starter and Pro. Premium is $179 a month billed annually, so a buyer who wants automated invoice costs is choosing between that and the $19 entry price, not getting both.

What is the best meez alternative for recipe costing?

It depends which half of meez you actually use. For recipe development, scaling and kitchen training, nothing else here matches it. For keeping ingredient costs current from invoices, MarginEdge, Restoke and Final Menu all include capture on their entry plan, and MarketMan includes 50 scans a month on its.

Is there a free alternative to meez?

Final Menu has a free tier, and we make Final Menu, so weigh that with the bias in mind. meez itself publishes no free plan, and neither does any other product compared here. The free tier covers invoice-driven recipe costing and menu pricing, not recipe development or kitchen training.

Why do meez users look for an alternative?

Two reasons show up repeatedly. Invoice processing sits on the third tier rather than the first, so the costing half of the job starts at $179 a month. And meez is built around the recipe: an operator who already knows their recipes and wants current costs is buying a recipe system to get a costing feature.
